The Mesquite Department of Parks and Recreation put on their annual fireworks display in honor of our great countries Independence Day. As a father of three young children I am used to the ooo’s and aahh’s that go with the fireworks; however, this year all I heard from my kids was, “Lame.” Whoever came up with the idea of putting on the entire 20 minute fireworks show in only 4 minutes made a huge mistake. The 20 minute show that was given last year was very enjoyable and it had a great finale that the kids truly enjoyed, and this year we had basically a four minute finale and no show. All three kids came away saying it was lame and did not satisfy them. The illegal fireworks going on around the park in the private neighborhoods were almost a better show than what the Mesquite Department of Parks and Recreation put on for us.
I used a Canon EOS 50D body with a Tamron 17-35mm lens. I used anywhere from 5sec exposure to 30 second exposure times with a small aperature around f/11-17. Please visit our Gallery to view more photos taken at the festivities.
